Regular Meeting of the Town Board of the Town of Ohio was held on Tuesday, August 13, 2013 at 7:00 PM at the Recreation Building
The following Officials were present:
Supervisor: Scott Bagetis
Town Clerk: Sandra Gates
Highway Superintendent: James Nightingale
Council members: George Lawson, Edward Luther, Gordon Roark and Michelle Barrows
Also present: Secretary Pat Reuter, Bookkeeper Ruth Roark, Codes Enforcement Officer Greene, Tax Collector Carol Smith, Justice Greene, Peter Rashford, and Richard Wright
Supervisor Bagetis called the meeting to order at 7:00 PM.
The Pledge of Allegiance was said by all.
Minutes of the Regular Meeting held on July 9, 2013 were read, adjusted and approved on motion by Councilmember Barrows, second by Councilmember Luther. So carried.
Supervisor’s Report and Abstract # 8 General Fund #172 through #204 in the amount of $33,215.16 and Highway Fund #191 through #213 totaling $58,362.08 was approved on motion by Councilmember Lawson, second by Councilmember Barrows. So carried.
BUDGET MODIFICATIONS: Councilmember Roark made a motion to make the following modifications to the General Fund transfers, second by Councilmember Lawson:
Account #A1356.4 Bar Contractual to A1220.4 Supervisor Contractual $31.90
Account #A1356.4 Bar Contractual to A1221.4 Bookkeeper Contractual $15.00
Account #A8989.4 Other Home to A7550.4 Celebrations $500.00. So carried.
Supervisor Bagetis reported the $1500.00 from the Highway Fund that Nightingale inquired about was an error and has been corrected.
The fines that New York State charged the Town for non filing has been rescinded.
CODES: Monthly Report given to the Supervisor.
HIGHWAY: Nightingale stated he had a MSHA inspection and they found no violations.
FEMA paperwork has been filed and a tentative meeting is set for around September 9.
Paving at North Lake has been rained out. He believes that the monies from CHIPS may be a very close budget for the paving, he maybe a little over budget.
He stated the parade went very well.
The paint job on the truck was good.
He would like to purchase a Boss plow for the new pick up from Charles Stahl at the

State bid price of $5,585.00. Councilmember Barrows asked if there was money in his budget, he stated he has money in the equipment fund and from the sale of equipment.
Councilmember Luther made a motion to purchase the Boss plow, second by Councilmember Lawson. So carried.
Nightingale would like to have a machinery meeting.
He will rent the roller until mid August. FEMA will help with the rental cost. At a future date he would like to purchase a roller.
He would like to put a plan together concerning road washouts and he would present it to the State to prove if he paved he wouldn’t have the washouts; they may pay for the paving and the roller.
Bagetis would like the roller to go over the fitness trail before it goes back.
SUMMER PROGRAM: Approximately 35 to 45 children are attending daily. The program went very smooth this year
OHIO DAYS: It was suggested for the parade there are no more burn outs, as it could be dangerous. There is a need for more port a potties. Supervisor would like a meeting for the next Ohio Days.
RECREATION FIELD: Water system needs to be updated; the expansion tank was replaced today. Possibly need an expansion tank at the bathroom facilities. Supervisor Bagetis will look into it.
Nightingale stated a blue print should be made for the water lines.
CORRESPONDENCE: Supervisor’s Association of Herkimer County is having a meeting on September 19th at 6:00 PM at the Herkimer American Legion, they will discuss Emergency Meeting and he encouraged everyone to attend.
APA NOTICE: APA Project #2013-150 has been approved on or near Figert Road, construction of a single family dwelling.
CORRESPONDENCE: Supervisor Bagetis gave board member’s letters from the Supervisor’s of the Town of Russia and the Town of Norway regarding the Summer Youth Program.
Supervisor Bagetis read a thank you letter from the Braue family.
OLD BUSINESS: The purchase of the property at the recreation field has been completed and filed.
ATV: Richard Wright addressed the board and stated they have just about all the
Landowners on board to open the roads they want. The next step will be to map out the roads that will be used.

TRASH DAY: Will be September 24, 25 and 26th.
ALCOHOL PERMISSION: Councilmember Luther made a motion to approve alcohol for the Softball Tournament on September 7th or 14th, second by Councilmember Lawson. So carried. They would like the Recreation Commission to serve food at the field.
TOWN SIGN: Peter Rashford gave board members a few different mock ups for a new Town sign. Board members would like to get some more samples.
Councilmember Luther stated we need a new sign for the Recreation Field as the old one is faded.
Signs for the Ohio Days will be stored at the Armory.
Councilmember Lawson made a motion to adjourn at 8:25 PM, second by Councilmember Luther. So carried.
