Regular Meeting of the Town Board of the Town of Ohio was held on Tuesday, September 10, 2013 at 7:00 PM at the Recreation Building

The following Officials were present:

Supervisor: Scott Bagetis

Town Clerk: Sandra Gates

Highway Superintendent: James Nightingale

Council members: George Lawson, Gordon Roark and Michelle Barrows Absent: Edward Luther

Also present: Secretary Pat Reuter, Bookkeeper Ruth Roark, Codes Enforcement Officer Greene, Peter Rashford, and Jason Maher


Supervisor Bagetis called the meeting to order at 7:00 PM.

The Pledge of Allegiance was said by all.

Minutes of the Regular Meeting held on August 13, 2013 were read and approved on motion by Councilmember Barrows, second by Councilmember Lawson. So carried.

Minutes of the Workshop meeting held on September 4, 2013 were read and approved on motion by Councilmember Roark, second by Councilmember Lawson. So carried.


Supervisor’s Report and Abstract #9 General Fund #205 through #220 in the amount of $25,015.22 and Highway Fund #214 through #243 totaling $151,098.64 was approved on motion by Councilmember Roark, second by Councilmember Barrows. So carried.

Supervisor Bagetis stated the audit has been done and a report will be made at the next meeting.

The septic tank at the recreation field has been pumped out and is now working.

CODES: Monthly report given to Supervisor.

FACILITIES: The water volume in the ladies bathroom is slow, Nightingale to change the toilet tank ball in the ladies bathroom. Jeff Greene will fix the drain in the kitchen.

Nightingale would like a countertop put on the center table at the cook shed. The grills have new wooden covers for winter.

HIGHWAY: Nightingale stated North Lake Road is paved. The North lake garage septic tank has been pumped.

He has a meeting with FEMA on Tuesday.

The used trailer he purchased will be worked on this winter.

RECREATION: Everything is on schedule for Snow Bash.

CORRESPONDENCE: Minor project public notice application received APA Project #2013-176 two lot subdivision.

Adirondack Park Local Government Review Board has requested the Town consider a $300.00 donation for 2014, this will be discussed at budget time.

Newport Volunteer Fire Department and West Canada Valley Post #1524 will hold their Annual Patriot’s Day on September 11, 2013.

ORRC: Supervisor Bagetis gave board members a copy of a Snow Bash Rental Agreement; he will get an attorney’s approval. The length of the agreement is for 5 years. The ORRC would like it to say that as long as the ORRC is having the Snow Bash, they would like to state indefinite, they would also like the fee waived for the rental in consideration of all their donations given to the Town.

Board members discussed the length of the agreement; they would like an attorney to go over the agreement before adding an indefinite time period.

Councilmember Barrows made a motion to have an attorney go over the rental agreement, second by Councilmember Roark. So carried.

SIGNS: Peter Rashford gave board members some new signage pictures to look at, board members picked out one they liked and he will get a quote for two signs.

BAR: Councilmember Lawson made a motion to appoint Fred Reuter to the Board of Assessment Review for five years, second by Councilmember Roark. So carried.

Councilmember Roark would like the monument possibly updated and a new plague added for other wars.

Ruth Roark would like to start a newsletter and would like the board’s input.

Supervisor Bagetis will check into having a face book page.

Councilmember Lawson made a motion to adjourn at 8:18 PM, second by Councilmember Roark. So carried.
