Regular Meeting of the Ohio Town Board was held on Tuesday, January 14, 2014 at 7:10 PM at the Recreation Building
The following Officials were present:
Supervisor: Scott Bagetis
Town Clerk: Sandra Gates
Councilmembers: George Lawson, Gordon Roark, Ed Luther and Jason Maher
Highway Superintendent: Nightingale
Also present: Secretary Pat Reuter, Bookkeeper Ruth Roark, Codes Enforcement Officer Jeff Greene, Tax Collector Carol Smith and several Town residents
The meeting was called to order by Supervisor Bagetis at 7:10 PM.
Minutes of the Regular Meeting held on December 10, 2013 were read and approved on motion by Councilmember Luther, second by Councilmember Maher. So carried.
Supervisor’s report and Abstract #1 General Fund #1 through #29 totaling $23,234.00 and Highway Fund #1 through #30 totaling$138,935.18 were approved on motion by Councilmember Roark, second by Councilmember Lawson. So carried.
FUEL BIDS: Supervisor Bagetis stated that he had contacted Harbor Point to advise them they had received the gasoline bid and they have declined the bid, as they will not deliver gasoline only. Supervisor reviewed all the bids and compared the bids again and after discussing the issue with board members it was decided to use the Superior Plus Energy Services bid for gasoline. Councilmember Luther made a motion to approve the bid, second by Councilmember Lawson. So carried.
BUDGET: Supervisor Bagetis stated the budget figures for 2013 are all in good order and there are unexpended funds in both the General and Highway Funds.
CODES: Yearly report given to Board Members.
HIGHWAY: Councilmember Roark suggested that the grader tires could be recapped.
It was suggested that truck repairs be put on a computer so it could be accessed by each truck for total repair costs. Nightingale stated he would need a secretary for that kind of work, as he does not have the time to do it.
Supervisor Bagetis stated he is going to apply for a grant that is available and maybe he could implement something with the grant monies, possibly scanning all repairs per truck.
Nightingale will look into putting a sluice pipe in by the monument for water drainage.
He will put a sign up for hidden driveway at the Woods Road intersection in the Spring.
RECREATION: Skating Rink was opened on January 8th for the public.
CORRESPONDENCE: Herkimer County Humane Society Board is going to review the contract for the Town. Supervisor Bagetis has contacted Pat Schofield and she gets paid.

Assemblyman Marc Butler sent a letter regarding the Mohawk Valley Water Authority wanting to go from 21 million gallons of water usage to 32 millon gallons. He is writing a letter to New York State Department of Environmental Conservation to look into this matter.
DOG CONTROL OFFICER: Gary Phillips wrote a letter requesting the Board to allow him monies for a hat, shirt and or coat. Board members discussed the issue and have declined at this time.
TOWN SIGN: The Town sign has been ordered for State Route 8.
It was suggested that possibly the Town sign at the end of Nellis Road be put on the Monument side of the road, with lights on it. It was also suggested the a solar light be put on the sign we already have.
FOUR WHEELERS: Ricky Wright gave Supervisor Bagetis a copy of maps with the Town Roads marked that they would like to have access to for the four wheeler trails. Supervisor will put together a draft of the law and have the Town Attorney look at it and then present it to the board. He would like to have this done by the Spring.
The ATV Club would like to use the Recreation Building for their meetings, the will contact the Town Secretary for available dates.
Councilmember Lawson made a motion to adjourn at 8:03 PM, second by Councilmember Luther. So carried.
