Meeting, February 11, 2014

Regular Meeting of the Ohio Town Board was held on Tuesday, Feburary 11, 2014 at 7:00 PM at the Recreation Building

 

The following Officials were present:

Supervisor: Scott Bagetis

Town Clerk: Sandra Gates

Councilmembers: George Lawson, Gordon Roark, Ed Luther and Jason Maher

Highway Superintendent: Nightingale

Also present: Secretary Pat Reuter, Bookkeeper Ruth Roark, Codes Enforcement Officer Jeff Greene, and several Town residents

 

The meeting was called to order by Supervisor Bagetis at 7:00 PM.

The Pledge of Alligiance was said by all.

Minutes of the Organizational Meeting held on January 14, 2014 were read and approved on motion by Councilmember Maher, second by Councilmember Lawson. So carried.

Minutes of the Regular meeting held on January 14, 2014 were read and approved on motion by Councilmember Roark, second by Councilmember Maher. So carried.

Supervisor’s report and Abstract #2 General Fund #30 through #55 totaling $18,823.83 and Highway Fund #31 through #59 totaling $82,550.11 were approved on motion by Councilmember Roark, second by Councilmember Maher. So carried.

Supervisor Bagetis will have the final 2013 budget figures for the next meeting.

CODES: Monthly report given to Supervisor.

HIGHWAY: Nightingale stated he has a file for each town truck with all repairs listed in it.

Grader tires: the cost for recaps is $1,300.00 and new tires are $1,700.00, tires that are six years old are not worth recapping.

Pressure washer at North Lake is no longer working, the company gave the Town one to use until the new one is delivered.

RECREATION: Ice machine at the recreation hall is broken, Supervisor Bagetis will get an estimate for the repair.

The Town residents have enjoyed using the skating rink.

HERKIMER COUNTY HUMANE SOCIETY: They have removed the unacceptable conditions and are back to the original contract.

MOHAWK VALLEY WATER AUTHORITY: Supervisor Bagetis gave board members copies of letters he had written to New York State Department of Environmental Conservation regarding the Mohawk Valley Water Authority’s request to increase its daily water draw from Hinckley Reservoir from 21 million gallons to 32 million gallons. He has requested a public hearing should be held before approval of the increase in draw.

TOWN SIGN: it is in process.

ATV LAW: It is still in process. A preliminary map has been completed to date.

ARCHIVAL GRANT: Supervisor Bagetis would like to apply for a SARA Grant to digitize permanent records and long term records along with a Records Management System, which would be a searchable database. The cost of the software and hardware will be in the cost of the grant. The back up system would be off site if a diaster occurred.

Councilmember Maher made a motion to approve the grant application, second by Councilmember Roark.

COMMUNITY: The ATV Club would like to hold an event in April and would like the Town Roads to be opened for the event.

Councilmember Lawson made a motion to go into executive session to discuss a legal issue at 7:37 PM, second by Councilmember Maher. So carried.

Councilmember Luther made a motion to return to the regular meeting at 7:57 PM, second by Supervisor Bagetis. So carried.

Councilmember Lawson made a motion to hold a workshop meeting to discuss the ATV LAW on Tuesday, March 18, 2014 at 6:00 PM at the Recreation Hall, second by Councilmember Roark. So carried.

Councilmember Lawson made a motion to adjourn at 8:08 PM, second by Councilmember Luther. So carried.
