Meeting, August 12, 2014

 

 

Regular Meeting of the Ohio Town Board was held on Tuesday, August 12, 2014 at 7:00 PM at the Recreation Building

 

The following Officials were present:

Supervisor: Scott Bagetis

Town Clerk: Sandra Gates

Councilmembers: George Lawson, Gordon Roark, Ed Luther and Jason Maher

Highway Superintendent: Jim Nightingale

Also present: Secretary Pat Reuter, Book keeper Ruth Roark, Codes Enforcement Officer Jeff Greene, and several Town residents.

 

The meeting was called to order by Supervisor Bagetis at 7:00 PM.

 

The Pledge of Alligiance was said by all.

 

Minutes of the Regular Meeting held on July 8, 2014 were read and approved on motion by Councilmember Lawson, second by Councilmember Roark. So carried.

Minutes of the Workshop Meeting held on July 14, 2014 were read and approved on motion by Councilmember Luther, second by Councilmember Lawson. So carried.

 

Supervisor’s Report and Abstract #8 General Fund #180 through #206 totaling $23,943.90 and Highway Fund #193 through #224 totaling $172,636.11 were approved on motion by Councilmember Roark, second by Councilmember Maher. So carried.

 

ACCOUNT TRANSFERS: Councilmember Maher made a motion to approve the following Highway and General Fund transfers:

HIGHWAY FUND $35,475.97 from account DA5130.2 to DA9720.6

$ 4,517.70 from account DA5112.2 to DA5112.4

GENERAL FUND $ 63.90 from account A1356.4 to A1110.4

$ .77 from account A1910.4 to A7110.4

$ 200.00 from account A7110.1 to A7110.4

$ 416.03 from account A1910.4 to A7140.4 $ 250.00 from account A7620.4 to A7140.4

$ 500.00 from account A8989.4 to A7520.1

Second by Councilmember Lawson. So carried.

 

CODES: Monthly report given to Supervisor.

 

HIGHWAY: Highway Superintendent Nightingale thanked Ruth Roark and Pat Reuter for all the help with the CHIPS paper work. He also thanked everyone for their help for the Ohio Days.

 

RECREATION: Supervisor Bagetis stated this is the last week for the Summer Regular Meeting

Program and everything has gone smoothly this year.

 

ALCOHOL PERMISSION: Councilmember Maher made a motion to approve alcohol at the recreation building for August 23, 2014, second by Councilmember Lawson. So carried.

 

There will be a Newport Patriots Days Remembrance Ceremony on September 11, 2014.

 

ORPTS Certification is at 100% of Equalization Rate.

 

ATV LAW1-2014: Trails/areas need to be marked out so the surveys can be completed. Nightingale suggested himself, Ricky Wright and Supervisor Bagetis should go look at the trails/areas and do the surveys this week or next week.

 

ENERGY USEAGE: Supervisor Bagetis stated National Grid did an audit and they would only reimburse the Town at 30% of the cost and the Town expense would be approximately $12,000.00. He will continue to check other options.

 

COMMUNITY: Donna Roark stated they rented the Recreation Buliding for a Jack and Jill party and they had to clean the building before the party. She would like to see the bathrooms updated as they look terible and the electric updated.. They received a letter from the Town stating the building wasn’t clean the next morning, Donna stated they did not clean that night but came back at 9:00 AM and cleaned the building.

Councilmember Maher suggested the rental contract be reviewed.

Councilmember Roark suggested updating updating the electric.

Supervisor Bagetis suggested they should get together and make suggestions to improve the buildings.

 

Councilmember Maher made a motion to go into executive session to discuss personnel, second by Councilmember Roark at 8:05 PM. So carried.

 

Councilmember Roark made a motion to go to regular session, second by Councilmember Maher at 8:20 PM. So carried.

 

Councilmember Maher made a motion to have a Workshop meeting on Wednesday, August 27, 2014 at 6:00 PM at the Town Office, second by Councilmember Roark. So carried.

 

Councilmember lawson made a motion to adjourn at 8:30 PM, second by Councilmember Roark at 8:05 PM. So carried.
