Minutes June 2015
Regular Meeting of the Ohio Town Board was held on Tuesday, June 9, 2015 at 7:00 PM at the Recreation Building
The following Officials were present:
Supervisor: Scott Bagetis
Town Clerk: Sandra Gates
Councilmembers: George Lawson, Ed Luther, Gordon Roark and Jason Maher
Highway Superintendent: Jim Nightingale
Also present: Secretary Pat Reuter, Book Keeper Ruth Roark, Codes Enforcement Officer Jeff Greene, Dog Control Officer Gary Phillips and several Town residents
The meeting was called to order by Supervisor Bagetis at 7:00 PM.
The Pledge of Alligance was said by all.
Minutes of the Regular Meeting held on May 12, 2015 were read and approved on motion by Councilmember Lawson, second by Councilmember Maher. So carried.
Minutes of the Public Hearing held on May 28, 2015 were read, corrected and approved on motion by Councilmember Roark, second by Councilmember Maher. So carried.
Supervisor’s Report and Abstract #6 General Fund #127 through #160 totaling $27,809.80 and Highway Fund #167 through #196 totaling$61,514.97 were approved on motion by Councilmember Lawson, second by Councilmember Luther. So carried.
Supervisor Bagetis has a meeting with a Certified Public Accountant tomorrow.
Supervisor Bagetis has applied for a property tax cap credit with NYS. The town has stayed below the property tax cap of 2% therefore the Town should be eligible for a rebate inflation rate or 2%. He had to show a savings of 1% in this years budget and a savings in utilities for the years 2016 through 2018 to be eligable for the tax credit..
CODES: Monthly report given to Supervisor.
HIGHWAY: Nightingale has had the park trail oiled and stoned. He has ordered several road signs, which will be purchased with CHIPS monies. All the rain we have gotten has set the Highway Department behind schedule for road work. They are working on the washout on Haskell Road. Fisher Lane will be paved next week weather permitting.
SUMMER PROGRAM: Amie Robinson addressed the Board and requested funding of approximately $1,500.00 to replace some DVD’s and a WII Game System that was stolen during the break in in November. Board members discussed a charity drive to help with the replacement cost, or donations.
Councilmember Lawson made a motion to approve $500.00 towards replacements, second by Councilmember Luther. So carried.
Councilmember Maher made a motion to hire Betty Anna as cook for the USDA Summer Food Program, second by Councilmember Roark. So carried.

CORRESPONDENCE: Ron Henry donated $100.00 in memory of Charles Ford towards the cost of fireworks.
RECREATION: The Recreation Commission has requested the Board approve fireworks for Ohio Days at an approximate cost of $2,500.00. Councilmember Lawson made a motion to approve the expense, second by Councilmember Roark. So carried.
BUILDINGS: Supervisor Bagetis will order the steel for the booth building roof. He will have the seasonel help replace the ceiling tile at the recreation building.
RECORDS MANAGEMENT: Supervisor Bagetis stated that the company that was used to digitize the Town Record is behind schedule, the paperwork has to be filed by the end of the month.
COMMUNITY INPUT: Dog Control Officer Gary Phillips thanked the board for sending him for a refresher course.
DUMPSTER: Nightingale stated the dumpster at the Recreation Hall is being filled with unacceptable items (computers, etc.). Board members discussed the issue and would like to continue to watch it for now before making a decision to lock it.
Supervisor Bagetis made a motion to go into executive session to discuss Union Negotiations at 7:45 PM, second by Councilmember Roark. So carried.
Councilmember Roark made a motion to return to regular session at 8:16 PM, second by Councilmember Luther. So carried.
Councilmember Lawson made a motion to adjourn at 8:18 PM, second by Councilmember Luther. So carried.
